First off, here’s what you’ll need for this project. Don’t worry, it’s not a long list and you probably already have the materials on hand. If you don’t have a t-shirt you want to cut up, check out SpectraUSA’s retro ring-spun t-shirt in a range of colors.Retro Ring-Spun T-shirt

  • Scissors
  • Measuring tape
  • Plate
  • T-shirt

Step 1: Take your dog’s measurements.

Measure your dog from the base of his neck to the tip of his tail using the measuring tape. Take down the measurements, since they will be crucial in the creation of the t-shirt.

Step 2: Trim the Shirt

Place your shirt on a clean, flat surface first. Measure the shirt from the neck to the bottom hem and make a mark at the length of your dog. Make a horizontal cut at the mark you made.

Step 3: Make the Body of the Shirt

Take your plate and put it over half of the shirt’s sleeve to make the shirt’s body.

Step 4: Cut the Sleeves

Next, cut the sleeves, bearing in mind your dog’s height. If your dog has short legs, for example, shorten the sleeves or leave them long if your dog is on the taller side.

Step 5: Crop the Shirt’s Back Part

Fold the garment in half and then fold the rear of the shirt up to the bottom of the armpit. At the fold, make a horizontal cut. Be careful not to cut the front of the shirt. The back of the shirt should be cropped, while the top of the shirt is a bit longer.

Step 6: Glue the sides

To keep the garment intact, glue the sides back together with fabric adhesive or a glue gun.

And there you go! Now take your dog for a walk and show off their new threads!
