The list is based on total sales of all officially licensed merchandise from March 1 through May 31, the first quarter of the new league year.
Kaepernick ranked as the NFL’s No. 1 seller of women’s apparel. He also topped Brady in sales of Nike jerseys.
The 49ers had five players ranked among the league’s top 50 players in retail sales, including Patrick Willis at No. 39. Willis announced his retirement in March after eight seasons.
Linebacker NaVorro Bowman was No. 20; safety Eric Reid was 47; and running back Carlos Hyde made his way onto the list at No. 49.
The list, released quarterly the marketing and licensing arm of the NFL Players Association, is based on sales of licensed products as reported by more than 80 NFLPA licensees such as Nike, VF Imagewear, Fanatics, Outerstuff, Fathead, McFarlane Toys, Oyo Sports, Bleacher Creatures, FBF Originals, Forever Collectibles, FanPrint and Photo File.
Licensed product categories include men’s, women’s and youth jerseys and T-shirts, player murals, figurines, photos, bobbleheads, drinkware, socks, jewelry, and electronic device accessories.
